(Wayzata, MN) - The USD men's golf team placed 9th out of 12 teams at The Gopher Invitational being played at the Spring Hill Golf Club in Wayzata, Minnesota. USD entered the last round in 8th place and shot a team score of 309 to finish with a three-round team total of 911. Lamar University ran away with the event with a 4-over-par score of 868. Rounding out the top five was Arkansas (890), Wisconsin (890), Indiana (891) and Notre Dame (891). USD senior Bucky Coe (76-75-79) and freshman Jason Shano (75-73-82) each tied for 32nd with totals of 230. They were followed by senior Joe Panzeri (t-37th at 231; 77-75-79), junior Blake Trimble (t-45th at 233; 76-80-77) and junior Darrin Hall (t-47th at 234; 85-75-74).
Lamar's Casey Clendenon shot a final round score of 70 to finish tied at the top with Wisconsin's Danny Zimmerman at 215 (1-under-par). Rounding out the top five were Victor Almstrom of Minnesota (3rd at 216), Clayton Rask of Minnesota (t-4th at 217) and Lamar's Hugues Joannes (t-4th at 217).
