LAYTON, Utah - Gonzaga University junior Bowdy Ehler is tied for seventh after the weather-plagued Purple and Red Invitational men's golf tournament co-hosted by Weber State University and the University of Utah.
Ehler shot a 70 after weather forced cancellation of the morning 18 holes. The tournament has been cut to 36 holes with the final 18 slated for Tuesday. Sophomore Brandon Crick was tied for 61st at 76.
The Bulldogs are 15th in the 18-team field at 303, but only four strokes behind Utah State University.
Co-host Utah leads at 283, holding a 3-stroke lead over Santa Clara University in the tightly-bunched field.
Shane Pearce of Texas Pan American is the individual leader, shooting 66 over the 7,147-yard, par 72 Valley View Golf Course.
The tournament is the fall opener for the Bulldogs.
