Los Angeles, CA (Nov. 3) -- Loyola Marymount sophomore golfer Brian Locke added to his honors mantel Friday as he was named October Golfer of the Month by the West Coast Conference. He finished the month with a 70.3 average.
In two tournaments in the month of October, he shot par or better in five of the six rounds to finish the Santa Clara Invitational at one-under and in a tie for fourth.
He then closed the month with his third career tournament title with a nine-under 207 to win the Bill Cullum Intercollegiate by six strokes. He averaged 70.3 per 18 holes on the month while shooting rounds of 70, 72, 73 at Santa Clara and then rounds of 70, 69 and 68 to run away with the title at the BCI. His nine-under helped the Lions claim their first Tournament Team Championship of the season.
His round at the Cal State Northridge included two eagles as he won by seven strokes. The win is seven top-five finish of his career and 11 in the top-20. In 39 rounds of golf, he has hit par or better in 19 of them.
The Lions head to the Hawaii Fall Intercollegiate on Nov. 6-8 in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
