Men's Golf Tied For Ninth

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Gonzaga University's men's golf team, competing in the final event of the fall season, was tied for ninth Monday after 36 holes of the Bill Cullum Countrywide Invitational Tournament hosted by Cal State University-Northridge.

The Bulldogs were tied with host CSU-Northridge at 611, five strokes behind Southern Utah University in eighth and well off the pace of tournament leader Holy Names University at 595.

Three Bulldogs shot 36-hole scores of 153 - Jimmy Hayes, Reyn Tanaka and Bowdy Ehler in a five-way tie for 28th. Hayes and Trevor Loe had the best Bulldogs rounds of the day, each shooting a 74 in the second round.

Charles Chae of Holy Names holds the individual lead at 139 for a 1-stroke lead over Eric Nilsson heading into Tuesday's final round.
