Brooklyn, N.Y. - The University of San Diego men's soccer team (3-2) scored two late goals in the final five minutes of the match to defeat the Long Island University Blackbirds (2-3-1) 2-1 at LIU Field wrapping up their East coast road swim.
LIU went up 1-0 in the 66th minute as sophomore Ryan Williams took a feed from junior Frank Judice and found himself one-on-one with the USD goalkeeper. Williams scored past Briones taking a 1-0 lead at the end of the first half.
Finally, a corner kick by USD with just over a minute left lifted the Toreros to the win. Mike Barbeito took the corner from the right side and found Sam Reeder, who headed the ball into the upper right corner of the net for his first goal of 2007.
LIU edged the Toreros in shots, 13-12, but San Diego dominated the corner kick count, 7-0. Williams closed with a team-high three shots.
