SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's soccer team (3-4-0) dropped their second loss of the weekend as they were defeated 1-0 by the Loyola University of Chicago Ramblers (5-2-2, 0-0-1 HL).
The lone goal was scored by in the 39th minute by Markian Zyga. The Toreros attempted to clear the ball out of the penalty box fouling Loyola and allowing them a penalty kick. Zyga took the penalty kick as USD goalkeeper Kelin Briones dove right, and Zyga shot to the lower left corner of the net for the game winner.
San Diego out-shot the Ramblers 8-2 but was not able to find the net. San Diego's San Reeder and Fabrice Gautrat had two shots each.
The winner of the Adidas San Diego Classic soccer tournament is Brown University with four points and two victories on the weekend.
San Diego will appear in the final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday, October 7 at 7:00 p.m. against UCLA in Los Angeles.
