LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's soccer team (3-5-0) dropped a 1-0 decision to the UCLA Bruins(4-4-1) at Drake Stadium Tuesday night.
Sophomore midfielder Andrew Sinderhoff set up David Estrada's first half goal. Just one minute after coming into the game, Sinderhoff took a shot that San Diego goalkeeper Kelin Briones got a hand on. Estrada, who was UCLA's top scorer last season with 12 goals, pounced on the rebound and put it away from five yards out for his first goal of the year at 36:54.
The two teams were evenly matched on shots USD's 11 to 13. Freshman forward Kyle Ochoa had two good looks. Forward J.T. Howlan and midfielder Tannen Wels also had one shot on goal each.
San Diego returns to the pitch on Sunday, October 7 at 2:00 p.m. when they open West Coast Conference play against Santa Clara University Broncos.
