San Francisco, CA- The Saint Mary's men's soccer team gave up an early first half goal to fall to the No. 12-ranked San Francisco Dons 1-0 Sunday night from Negoesco Stadium. After the day, the Gaels fall to 4-7-5 overall and 2-4-2 in West Coast Conference play.
In the 12th minute of the match, Neil Stuart broke the silence quickly for the Dons. Stuart collected a Jesse Henderson cross that he nailed in the net on a one-touch volley.
Early in the second half the Gaels came out of the gates strong. Three minutes into the period, freshman Dylan Leslie drilled a laser off the crossbar for the near miss.
Leslie led SMC offensively with five shots, putting two on frame. As a team the Gaels rallied off eight shots on the night.
USF tallied 13 shots and was led by Matt Languis and Ardalan Attar, who recorded three shots a piece.
In net, Geremy Uhl recorded the shutout for the Dons, making three saves on the night. SMC goalkeeper Brian Mason allowed one goal and tallied two saves.
The Gaels will continue WCC action on the road when they head south to face Loyola Marymount. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. from Sullivan Field.
