San Francisco, CA - LMU's hopes to mount a season-ending winning streak were dashed Friday night as San Francisco scored twice in each half for a 4-0 victory at Negoesco Stadium in San Francisco.
The Dons got goals from four different players with Conor Chinn assisting on three scores as USF improved to 7-10-1 and 3-7-1 in WCC play. LMU falls to 3-15-1, and 1-10-0 in conference action.
Jesse Henderson struck first for the Dons, burying a shot from the top of the box just past diving Lion goalkeeper Patrick Lane in the 17th minute. LMU had a chance a minute later but USF goalkeeper Eric Conner saved a shot from LMU senior Tyler Mehl. That would prove to be pivotal as the Dons added a second score less than three minutes later. Jordan Keyes knocked in a rebound after a shot from Chinn was saved by Lane.
USF made it 3-0 three minutes into the second half when Brandon McDonald connected on a header from a Daniel DeGeer corner kick. DeGeer closed out the scoring in the 70th minute after Chinn dribbled in to the box and beat the Lion defense to find DeGeer.
The Dons out-shot LMU by a 16-5 margin for the contest. Junior Brad Stisser led the Lions with a pair of shots on the night. Lane and Conner each had three saves in goal.
The Lions complete their regular season schedule on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Saint Mary's.
