Niemeyer Adds to Academic Awards

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Senior forward David Niemeyer wrapped up his college career by earning a pair of academic honors following the 2006 season. He was named to the WCC All-Academic team for the third straight year, and was also named NSCAA Scholar All-West Region honorable mention.

In November, Neimeyer was named to the ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 Team for the second straight year. He was selected for his academic accomplishments as well as his play on the soccer field. Niemeyer will graduated a semester early with honors in Political Science, and graduated with a 3.83 GPA.

Niemeyer was on the Athletic Honor Roll Dean's List with GPA over 3.50 all seven semesters that he was at LMU, and was the recipient of the Kilp Alumni Scholarship. The forward is a member of the National Political Science Honor Society. Niemeyer was named to the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll in each of his first three years at LMU, and to the 2004 and 2005 WCC All-Academic team. The Long Beach, CA native minored in Business.

On the field, Niemeyer has succeeded as well. He finished the season with three goals and one assist. He was named the WCC Player of the Week, and earned a spot on the Harvard Invitational All-tournament team. He gave LMU a 1-0 lead against Central Connecticut State, and scored the game-tying goal against Rhode Island.
