SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University's men's soccer team will open its spring season Saturday against the Seattle Sounders at Starfire Sports Stadium in Tukwila, Wash.
The match starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10 each.
Saturday's outing will be the first of seven spring matches for the Bulldogs, several of which will be controlled scrimmages. Gonzaga will be at the Portland Timbers on Sunday but is closed to the public. Sunday's informal scrimmage is one of several the Timbers have scheduled against Pacific Northwest college teams this spring.
Gonzaga will face Simon Fraser University of Vancouver, British Columbia, on April 14 in a scrimmage at Western Washington University in Bellingham. The Bulldogs will also scrimmage WWU that day. Gonzaga will remain in Bellingham to scrimmage Trinity Western University of Langley, British Columbia which is located outside of Vancouver.
The Bulldogs have two home matches scheduled for April 22 against the Yakima Reds of the United Soccer League's Premiere Development League and April 28 against the Spokane Spiders of the PDL. The Spiders are replacing the Spokane Shadow in the PDL, the Shadow suspending operations prior to the 2006 season. Match times against Yakima and Spokane have not been determined.
