(San Francisco) - USF men's soccer is hosting a wine social and silent auction on Tuesday, August 14 from 6:00 - 8:30 pm in the Handlery Room at Lone Mountain on the USF campus. The event will launch the fall 2007 season and includes a silent auction featuring hotel/restaurant packages, wine delights as well as soccer events and memorabilia. All proceeds will directly benefit USF's men's soccer.
The evening promises to be an exciting event where boosters and alumni can greet old friends, meet the 2007 team and learn about the upcoming season. The USF soccer program has had an enviable legacy winning the NCAA championship four times, 1966, 1975, 1976 and 1980. Under current coach Erik Visser, who played on the 1980 NCAA team, the men have won the 2004 and 2005 WCC conference title and made three consecutive post-season appearances in NCAA play. Coach Visser expects this season to be an exciting one.
"The proof of success in everything is to sustain it," commented Visser. "We are blessed with a great group of seniors and have attracted a high-caliber class of recruits. It promises to be a very exciting, challenging season in which we will push to maintain the momentum built over the past several years."
Come join USF men's soccer boosters and alumni and support the Dons as they strive to extend their string of NCAA post-season appearances.
