LMU Ranked After Season Opening Win

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The LMU men's soccer team moved into this week's rankings following its 1-0 win over then-#2 Connecticut on Saturday. The Lions are ranked #22 in the College Soccer News poll, the highest ranked team entering the poll this week. LMU will face Marquette in its home opener on Saturday at 2:00pm.

Several of LMU's 2006 opponents are featured in this week's poll. The Lions tied #5 UCLA, 3-3, in a preseason exhibition. In addition, UC Santa Barbara is ranked #14, and WCC opponents San Francisco (#18) and Santa Clara (#26) are also ranked in the poll. UConn drops to #7 (from #4 in the preseason CSN poll) following the loss to LMU.

The Lions will return to Sullivan Field next weekend, hosting Marquette on Saturday at 2:00pm. It will mark the first regular season home game for the team in 2006.
