SAN BRUNO, Calif. --WCC non-conference action continues on Friday when five West Coast Conference teams return to the pitch.

Defending-West Coast Conference champion Saint Mary's opened its season with a 2-1 win over UNLV on Sunday at Saint Mary's Stadium. All-WCC senior Trevor Newquist knocked in the decisive goal on a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.
Saint Mary's retained its No. 18 ranking in the NSCAA national poll. The Gaels were also ranked 18th in the initial preseason poll.
Portland split its first two matches of the season in the Wilson Titan Classic in Fullerton, Calif. last weekend. The Pilots defeated host-Cal State Fullerton 4-0 on Sunday. WCC Player of the Week Steven Evans paced UP with two goals in the Sunday finale.
Gonzaga shook off a 2-1 Friday loss at Washington with a 2-1 win over Seattle on Sunday afternoon. The Friday evening match was televised on the Pac-12 Network, the first of four WCC appearances on the Network.
San Francisco got on the winning track Sunday night with 2-0 at San Jose State. Sophomore Sixto Porras handled the scoring for the Dons with two goals.
Santa Clara lost 2-1 to California in its season-opener last Friday. The Broncos will head east for a Friday match at Duke and a Sunday afternoon contest at North Carolina State.
Four West Coast Conference men's soccer matches will be televised nationally in 2012. The next broadcast will be on Friday, September 21 when Loyola Marymount visits Stanford. That match can be seen live on the Pac-12 Network.
