Gomez Completes Award Trifecta

Aug. 31, 2006

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Junior midfielder Trini Gomez completed the award trifecta this week when he was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week for scoring the game-winning goal in LMU's win over then-#2 Connecticut in front of almost 5,500 fans at Morrone Stadium on Saturday night. Earlier this week, the native of Inglewood, CA was named the WCC Player of the Week and earned a spot on the College Soccer News Team of the Week. Gomez will lead the #14 Lions when they host Marquette on Saturday.

On Saturday, Gomez took a feed from senior Bobby Burling and buried the ball to the bottom right corner of the net to lead the Lions to the 1-0 victory. Gomez led LMU in scoring in 2005 with six goals and four assists. It is the first career Soccer America, WCC and College Soccer News honor for Gomez.

The Lions will play their first home regular season game on Saturday, hosting Marquette at Sullivan Field at 2:00pm.
