Three Men's Soccer Players Named to All-Tournament Team

Sept. 3, 2007

Davidson, NC - Following the conclusion of the 2007 Davidson adidas Classic, Corey Heldreth, Justin Kim and Erik Rivas were named to the all-tournament team following Saint Mary's 1-0-1 finish in the tournament.

Corey Heldreth played a key role in the Gaels performance this past weekend. Heldreth played the middle back position, and anchored a defensive line that featured two freshmen and a transfer. Heldreth, just one of three seniors on the squad, played a vital role in SMC's shutout victory over Davidson on Friday.

Justin Kim, a transfer from Bowling Green, was a key contributor for Saint Mary's in his first games as a Gael. In SMC's 2-0 win over Davidson, Kim has assists on both goals by the Gaels. Kim started both games as an attacking midfielder for the Gaels and logged more than 150 of the 180 minutes the team played in the hot North Carolina weather.

Freshman midfielder Erik Rivas made a big impact in his first collegiate games. Rivas had a goal and helped Saint Mary's control the flow of the game. Rivas scored the second goal for the Gaels in the win over Davidson on Friday.

The Gaels will open this year's home schedule against Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday, September 8, beginning at 2 p.m. in Saint Mary's Stadium.
