Sept. 4, 2006

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Senior David Niemeyer was named the WCC Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. The forward from Long Beach, CA, scored a goal against Central Connecticut last Monday and assisted on the game-winner in LMU's 2-1 win over Marquette.

Niemeyer is the second straight Lion to win the weekly award after midfielder Trini Gomez was named the Co-Player of the Week last week.  It is the first career WCC weekly award for Niemeyer.

The Lions will return to the New England area for the second time in three weeks when they travel to Cambridge, MA for the Harvard Tournament.  LMU will open the tournament with a game against Rhode Island and will play the host Crimson on Sunday.
