SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's soccer team finished off a two win weekend with five members making the 2007 Aztec Classic all-tournament team. The Toreros defeated Fairleigh Dickinson (2-0) and New Jersey Tech (2-0) to win the tournament out right.
Senior captain Colin Jennings was named Defensive Most Valuable Player for the tournament. San Diego had the most athletes earning All-Tournament honors of the four teams. Senior captain and forward Dustin Guerrero, forward Tannen Wels, junior Kelin Briones, and freshman Kyle Ochoa were the four athletes selected.
The University of San Diego will travel to the Northeast to take on the Hofstra University Pride and the Long Island University Blackbirds in their fi rst road trip of the 2007 season. The Pride is currently 0-2-1 after a 3-1 loss to Stony Brook this past weekend. Freshman Johannes Grahn has scored the only two goals for Hofstra this season. The match is set for Friday, September 14 at 5:00 p.m., however live stats will not be available.
The Toreros will then travel to Long Island University where they will take on the Blackbirds. USD posted an 11-0 victory over LIU in 2006 at Torero Stadium. The Blackbirds are currently 0-2-1 on the season. Their leading scorer is freshman Sascha Donougher with one goal.
