Santa Clara's Erik Hurtado Named WCC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference has announced its men's soccer Player of the Week award-winner for September 12, 2011.

Santa Clara's All-WCC forward Erik Hurtado scored twice, helping the Broncos improve to 3-1-1 with a pair of wins over Nebraska-Omaha (4-0) and Cleveland State (2-0). Hurtado scored SCU's second goal in each match, sealing the win over Cleveland State in the closing moments. The junior from Beaverton, Ore., who was twice named Oregon's 6A Player of the Year as a prep, leads the Broncos and ranks among the league leaders in most offensive categories, including goals (three), points (eight), shots (19) and shots on goal (11).
