Conor Chinn (San Diego) Named West Coast Conference Player of the Week

Sept. 17, 2007

(San Francisco) - Sophomore forward Conor Chinn (San Diego) scored three goals in two matches en route to earning West Coast Conference Player of the Week honors. Chinn turned in the first multi-goal match of his career in USF's upset 2-1 victory against No. 11 Cal (9/14) and tallied his fourth goal in five matches Sunday at Stanford (9/16).

A 2006 West Coast Conference Freshman Team selection, Chinn has already equaled his first year goals tally (4) and is the third Don to post a multi-goal match this season. Senior defender Daniel DeGeer tallied in a 3-2 win against Bay Area rival San Jose State (9/9) and freshman forward Jeff Penna recorded a pair of scoring strikes in an overtime win against Alabama A&M (9/2). Chinn leads the WCC in points (9) and is third in points per game (1.80).

Chinn is the second Don to earn WCC Player of the Week honors this season as DeGeer shared weekly honors September 10.

San Francisco enters the final non-conference week on the schedule with a pair of outstanding home matches, beginning Thursday, September 20 when the Dons welcome No. 5 UCLA to Negoesco Stadium. USF then hosts New Mexico Saturday night in a rematch of last season's 2006 NCAA Tournament First Round contest, won 1-0 by the Lobos in the closing seconds.
