Gonzaga beat Northwest-rival Oregon State 3-2 Sunday afternoon on the shoulders of freshmen Andrew Owenson and WCC Player of the Week nominee senior Stefan Eysteinsson. San Diego won their last two games before Conference play with a 3-0 shutout against the Huskies of Houston Baptist Sunday afternoon and a 2-0 win over the University at Albany Great Danes Friday evening.

  • The Bulldogs snapped a three-match losing streak on Saturday with a 3-2 victory over Oregon State.

  • Freshmen Andrew Owenson scored his first collegiate goal at 12:18 in the first half to tie the match at one. Redshirt sophomore Zach Smith added the second goal at the 40:32 mark, and WCC Player of the Week nominee Senior Stefan Eysteinsson gave the Bulldogs a 3-1 cushion at 79:33.

  • Gonzaga fell 2-0 at the University of Washington on Wednesday. The Bulldogs were outshot 14-4 in the match.

  • After seven straight matches away from home to open the season, the Bulldogs make their Gonzaga Soccer Field debut Wednesday at 3 p.m. against Pacific Northwest foe University of Portland to open West Coast Conference play. The Bulldogs will host Santa Clara University Friday.

  • The Lions won one match and tied another last week, beating Cal Poly 4-1 Thursday night and tying UC Riverside 1-1 on Sunday night at UCR Stadium.

  • WCC Co-Player of the Week junior Phil da Silva entered the match in the 28th minute and put the Lions ahead just 8:38 later off an LMU corner on Sunday night. UC Riverside's Arnie Sanchez scored in the 83rd minute to cancel out da Silva's first-half strike as the teams played to a 1-1 draw. The Lions got two goals from junior Artur Jozkowicz and one each from juniors Jonas Reiter and Phil Da Silva to beat Cal Poly 4-1 Thursday night in San Luis Obispo.

  • Senior Rafael Baca is ranked 20th in the nation in assists, averaging .63 per game.

  • LMU opens up West Coast Conference play next weekend as they visit San Francisco on Friday night before playing at Saint Mary's on Sunday.

  • The Pilots participated in the Husky Fever Classic hosted by the University of Washington last week. Portland played the Seattle Redhawks to a 1-1 draw at Championship Field on Sunday and defeated UC Davis 2-1 in overtime on Friday on a game-winner by senior midfielder WCC Co-Player of the Week Jarad vanSchaik.

  • Ryan Luke scored UP's goal against the Redhawks, while vanSchaik was named thetournament's offensive MVP. vanSchaik picked up an assist on Sunday to add onto his game-winner two days prior.

  • Portland held a slight 22-21 advantage in shots and senior goalkeeper Austin Guerrero finished with seven saves on Sunday.

  • The Pilots next open play in the West Coast Conference with a match at Gonzaga on Wednesday night. Kickoff in Spokane is set for 7:00 p.m

  • The Gaels dropped their second match of the season on Friday, falling to Stanford on the road, 3-0.

  • Saint Mary's was unable to finish on any of their 14 shots and could not avenge last year's season-ending loss to the Cardinal in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

  • Junior goalkeeper Doug Herrick is ranked 20th in the nation in saves per game, averaging 5.28.

  • Saint Mary's will return home next week to begin the first round of conference play. On Friday, Oct. 1, the Gaels will take on reigning WCC champion San Diego at 4:00 p.m. from Saint Mary's Stadium. SMC will then host Loyola Marymount on Sunday, Oct. 3. The match between the Gaels and the Lions is set to kickoff at 2:00 p.m.

  • San Diego posted a 3-0 shutout against the Huskies of Houston Baptist Sunday afternoon at Torero Stadium. Freshman Sergio Lopez, junior Charles Blase, and sophomore WCC Player of the Week nominee Patrick Wallen all scored in the first half for USD.

  • Goals from sophomores Dan Delgado and Sergio Carranza lifted USD to a 2-0 win over the University at Albany Great Danes Friday evening at Torero Stadium. The Torero offense lit up the field with 13 shots as the Danes struggled to find the net.

  • San Diego dominated the shots category 13-0 and had a 6-2 advantage on corner kicks on Friday.

  • San Diego opens up conference this coming weekend on the road against Saint Mary's on Friday, October 1st at 2:00 p.m. followed by their match with San Francisco at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3rd.

  • USF closed out the non-conference portion of the 2010 schedule with a 2-1 loss at San Jose State. San Francisco opened the scoring in the 23rd minute as sophomore midfielder Vinny Caloiaro collected his first career goal. But the Spartans (6-3-0) scored twice in the closing minutes of the match to secure a victory.

  • USF men's soccer broke through for a 2-1 double overtime triumph against Cal State Northridge Friday night at Negoesco Stadium. San Francisco opened the scoring in the 48th minute as freshman forward Tanner Smith collected his second goal of the season.

  • Bryan Burke set up the game winning strike for sophomore forward Oscar Englund in the 108th minute for a 2-1 victory in double overtime.

  • USF begins WCC play when it opens a three-match homestand beginning Friday, October 1 against Loyola Marymount. Match time against the Lions is set for 7:00 PM at Negoesco Stadium.

  • Santa Clara freshman Keigo Kameya scored his first collegiate goal in the first half of a 1-1 double-overtime draw at Sacramento State on Sunday.

  • The Broncos took down Bay Area rival San Jose State 2-1 Friday night at Buck Shaw Stadium.

  • In a first half which saw SCU outshoot SJSU 6-1, Junior Mykell Bates put the Broncos up by snapping a header inside the far post on a corner kick in the 19th minute. Harrison Hanley fired home a shot from close range just before halftime to put the Broncos up 2-0.

  • The Broncos will travel to the Pacific Northwest for matches against Gonzaga Friday, October 1 and Portland Sunday, October 3.
