With women's volleyball and men's soccer already into conference play and women's soccer entering conference play this weekend, the West Coast Conference announced its Players of the Week. Portland's Danielle Foxhoven won her second weekly award, while Saint Mary's took home the remaining awards won by Chanteal Satele and Doug Herrick.
Foxhoven had five goals in Portland's two wins this weekend. She recorded her second hat trick of the year in a 7-0 shutout of Montana, and then scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over Washington State. Foxhoven leads Portland with 11 goals this season.
Satele was a key part of the Gaels perfect weekend in which they went 2-0 winning both matches over Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount in straight sets, the Gaels improved to 10-3/2-0 WCC. Satele's line for the weekend was a team-high 22 kills, four errors on 45 total attempts for a .400 attack percentage, she averaged 3.67 kills per game, she also notched two total blocks, and one dig.
Herrick went 1-0-1 in the opening weekend of West Coast Conference play as he notched 10 saves on the weekend (5 vs. Gonzaga and 5 vs. No. 18 Portland) and a 0.45 goals against average, only giving up one goal to No. 18 Portland. He holds a 0.81 goals against average through nine games and has played in all 889:46 minutes for the Gaels, holding a 5-1-3 overall record. The Gaels beat Gonzaga 2-0 on Friday for Herrick's second shutout of the season on Sunday, as the Gaels tied with No. 18 Portland.
