WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - BRANDON ZAMBRANO, FR., F, PORTLAND
Brandon Zambrano had a hat trick at Saint Mary's on Friday, which included the game-winner, and added two assists during the weekend as the Pilots out-scored their opponents 10-3 to claim a pair of wins. During a 5-1 win over the Gaels in Moraga, Zambrano scored goals 30 seconds apart in the first half after the Pilots had fallen behind early 1-0. His first in the 29th minute broke a 1-1 tie, and his second gave the Pilots a cozy two-goal cushion. He then notched the hat trick with a goal in the 88th minute before assisting on a goal by fellow freshman Erik Edwardson in the final minute of regulation.
Zambrano then picked up an assist on Sunday at Merlo Field as the Pilots again came-from-behind, this time rallying from a 2-0 deficit to post a 5-2 win over Pacific. His assist came on a goal by Eddie Sanchez in the 59th minute, which sparked a string of three goals in six minutes by the Pilots.
