Josten Named WCC Player of Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University senior forward George Josten is the West Coast Conference men's soccer Player of the Week.

The Idaho Falls, Idaho, product scored both goals in Gonzaga's 2-2 double overtime tie with the University of Portland last Friday, the Bulldogs lone match of the week. His second goal at 87:19 was the equalizer that sent the match to overtime.

The two goals pulled him into a tie for second on the Gonzaga career charts with Brian Ching at 34. Ching currently plays for the Houston Dynamos of the MLS and is a member of the U.S. World Cup team.

Josten also has 16 career assists to tie him with current Bulldog assistant coach Mike Thompson for third. His 84 career points rank fourth.

The Bulldogs remain home for two matches this weekend, hosting the University of San Francisco Friday at 2 p.m. and Saint Mary's College Sunday at noon. Gonzaga (8-3-3; 3-1-3) is in third place in the WCC with 12 points. The University of San Diego (8-6-1; 5-1-1) is first with 16 points and Santa Clara University (9-1-4; 4-0-2) is second with 14 points.
