Alex Christlieb Earns Academic Honor

Moraga, CA- Saint Mary's senior defender Alex Christlieb (Ashland, OR) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 Team. He was selected for his academic accomplishments as well as his play on the soccer field. Christlieb will graduate in the spring with a degree in Business Administration and currently sports a 3.57 GPA.

Christlieb has had an exceptional year for the Gaels once again. The 2005 All-West Coast Conference honorable mention selection has added numerous accolades to his trophy case this season.

The senior captain was named WCC Player of the Week for his effort in a 1-0 victory over then ranked No. 11 San Francisco. The Ashland, OR native tallied the game-winner and also was a key on the defensive end in the shutout.

On top of his WCC Player of the Week honor, Christlieb was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week.

On the season, Christlieb has recorded five points on two goals and one assist from the backfield.

Saint Mary's will conclude WCC play this weekend against Gonzaga and Portland. The Gaels will face the Bulldogs on Friday, November 3 and then face-off against the Pilots on Sunday, November 5. Both games will begin at 2 p.m. from Saint Mary's Stadium.
