|PORTLAND CONTINUES ROAD TO COLLEGE CUP|
Portland continues its road to the College Cup after defeating the New Mexico Lobos 2-1 in overtime play on Thursday and the North Carolina State Wolfpack 2-1 in regulation on Sunday. This is Portland's 14th NCAA appearance in program history and looks to improve on its 12-10-3 record in postseason play.
San Diego was defeated by UC Santa Barbara 1-0 in the second round on Sunday after receiving an automatic first round bye. The Toreros were the WCC league champions and were ranked as high as No. 14 in the NSCAA poll.
Loyola Marymount and Saint Mary's both fell in the first round of NCAA play. The Lions dropped a close 2-1 match to Sacramento State at home, while Saint Mary's lost 3-0 to Stanford on the road in its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

2009 All-WCC Men's Soccer Teams Announced
Player of the Month, October 2009: Patrick Wallen, Fr., F, San Diego
Wallen recorded 19 shots and 10 shots on goal for a .526 SOG%. He had two game winning goals, the first on October 4th versus USF at Torero Stadium in San Diego's conference opener and the second on October 16th against Saint Mary's at home. His third and fourth goals were against Loyola Marymount, the first at home and the other on the road. Wallen also tallied one assist at Portland and two at Loyola Marymount.
Wallen has been involved in seven of the team's 17 goals in October and was a key factor in San Diego entering major national polls as a ranked team.
