Two Lions Named to Far West Region Teams

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Senior Bobby Burling and junior Diego Barrera were selected to the NSCAA Far West All-Region Team. Burling, a two-time selection, earned second team honors in 2006, while Barrera was a third team selection. It is the fifth time in the last six years that LMU has had at least two selections on the All-Region team.

Burling, a first team All-WCC selection, had an outstanding senior season, leading the team in scoring despite playing defense for most of the season. He finished the season with four goals and five assists, with two goals and four assists coming in WCC games. He scored twice in conference games, including the game-winner in LMU's 3-2 win at San Diego, and also added goals against Rhode Island and Marquette. He finishes his career ranked in the top six of the LMU career record books for goals, assists and points. He is tied for second in career assists with 18. Four of those assists came in WCC play this season, as he assisted on two goals against Gonzaga and two goals against Saint Mary's. It is the second career All-Region selection for Burling who earned third team honors in 2004.

Diego Barrera was a third team Far West Region selection.

Barrera was named to the third team, his first time on the All-Region team. He earned second team All-WCC honors for the second time in three years after earning a spot on the second team in 2004. He finished the season with three goals and one assist, and all three goals came in WCC games. He tied the game with a late penalty kick against San Diego, and put LMU ahead 1-0 on the road at Santa Clara. He also added a goal against Gonzaga.

The Lions wrapped up the regular season with a 9-8-2 record and finished fourth in the conference with a 5-5-2 mark.
