Gaels Fall to Broncos

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's college men's team dropped its match against the Santa Clara. The Broncos won today's match by a score of 5-2.

The Gaels dropped the doubles point to begin the match. Alp Ozpinar and Adam Fauvre dropped their match 8-6. Joel Kusnierz and Achim Christner dropped their match 8-5. Andre Sion and Yury Platonov won their doubles match 8-6.

All of today's singles matches were won in sets; two of the won by the Gaels and four won by the Broncos. Kusnierz ended up on the wrong side of two close sets. He dropped the first set in a tie-breaker 7-6 (7-3) and the second set 7-5. Andre Sion pulled off a two set victory in his singles matches, winning 6-4, 6-2. Sion won his eighth singles match of the year today.

Andrea Zannoni kept it close in the first before dropping the match in the second set, 7-5, 6-1. Fauvre won the Gaels second point winning his match 6-4, 6-4. Fauvre has won three of his last four singles matches. Platonov dropped his match in two sets 6-1, 6-3. Christner had to default his match due to injury. This gave the Broncos their final score of 5-2.

The Gaels return to action when they hit the road to Sacramento, CA when they will face the Sacramento State Hornets on March 10.
