Malibu, Calif. - The 24th-ranked Pepperdine men's tennis team returned home to the familiar surroundings of the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center and registered a 6-1 victory over UC Santa Barbara to end a five-match losing streak and extend its home-court winning streak to 49 matches.
The Waves improved to 8-6 on the season while the Gauchos fell to 2-9.
Pepperdine swept all three doubles matches as the tandems of Andre Begemann and Mahmoud, Bassam Beidas and James Lemke, and Omar Altmann and Oliver Hyams recorded victories to give the Waves the doubles point.
Begmann, ranked No. 24, defeated Bijan Hejazi, 6-0, 6-4, to secure the first singles point for Pepperdine while playing at No. 1. Beidas defeated Anders Dalskov, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles while Lemke, playing at the No. 3 position, topped Josh Finkelstein, 6-3, 7-5. The Waves final point came at the No. 4 spot where Kamel registered a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Max Taylor.
UC Santa Barbara's Nigel Barton defeated Hyams, 7-5, 6-2, at the fifth spot for the Gauchos' only win.
The Waves also gained a singles point at No. 6 as UC Santa Barbara only had five players available to play singles.
Pepperdine returns to the court on Friday when it hosts No. 31 Florida State at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center beginning at 1:30 p.m.
