Zags Fall to Loyola Marymount

LOS ANGELES - Marco Antonio Pineda posted a singles win Thursday as the Gonzaga University men's tennis team fell to Loyola Marymount University 6-1 in Los Angeles.

With the loss, Gonzaga falls to 6-9 and 0-5 in West Coast Conference play, while LMU improves to 4-10 and 1-2 in the WCC.

Pineda earned the lone GU point of the afternoon, defeating Niokla Petrov at the No. 4 positions (6-2, 6-2). Bryce Cooper fell at the No. 1 spot for Gonzaga, falling to Nico Terrien (6-3, 6-1). GU's Roman Dojcak fell in three sets at the No. 2 spot to Sam Tadevosian (1-6, 7-5, 6-3). Brett Womack, at No. 3, jumped out to an early one set lead before falling to Jacek Twarowski (6-3, 6-2, 6-2). Cooper Fratt and Charles Adams rounded out singles play both falling in their respective matches. Fratt fell to Matt Phillips at No. 5 (7-5, 6-3), while Adams dropped a match to Renzo Maggi at No. 6 (6-0, 7-6).

In doubles play, the Lions earned wins in all three matches. At the top position, Tadevosian and Twarowski defeated Radetzky and Womack (8-4). The Zags' Cooper and Dojcak fell at the No. 2 spot to Phillips and Perez (8-6), while Adams and Pineda rounded out doubles play, falling to Terrian and Maggi (8-4).

The Bulldogs will hit the courts again on March 28, when they travel to the Boise State University Spring Break Tournament.
