Malibu, Calif. - In the first of two matches, the No. 2 Pepperdine men's tennis team defeated Pacific 6-1 on Saturday at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis in Malibu, Calif. With the win, the Waves moved to 17-1 on the season, while the Tigers dropped to 10-4 on the season.
Pepperdine captured the doubles point after getting wins at No. 1 and No. 2. The No. 1 Wave duo of Andre Begemann and Scott Doerner defeated Jorgen Vestli and Vladimir Zdravkovic 8-2, while the No. 35 duo of Pedro Rico and Ivor Lovrak handed Arnar Sigurdsson and Tim Koniarski an 8-4 defeat.
In singles, the Waves won five of the six singles matches. No. 17 Doerner defeated No. 69 Sigurdsson 6-2, 6-2, while No. 20 Rico won over Vestli 6-3, 6-3. Begemann defeated Tim Koniarski 7-6, 7-5 on court four and Omar Altmann picked up a win at court five over Mortiz Starke 6-3, 7-6. Oliver Hyams picked up his fourth win of the season as he defeated Alan Kelly in the tiebreaker.
