March 19, 2007

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team dropped a tough match to Cornell earlier today. The Gaels fell to the Big Red by a score of 7-0.

Cornell took the doubles point to start the competition. Andre Sion and Adam Fauvre fell in their match by a score of 8-1. Yury Platonov and Achim Christner lost their match by a score of 8-4. Alp Ozpinar and Andrea Zannoni won their match by a score of 8-7 (7-4).

The Gaels did not fare well today in singles. Although they fought in many close matches they came up on the wrong side in each. Fauvre, Zannoni and Platonov all dropped their matches in two sets. Ozpinar dropped his match in three sets.

Sion and Christner both brought their matches into a third set super tiebreaker. Unfortunately both Gaels fell in close matches.

The Gaels will return to action tomorrow when they face off against Northern Colorado. The match will begin at 3:00 p.m. from the Korth Tennis Complex.
