The USF men's tennis team got straight set wins from Matthew Berry at number one and Thong Tu at number two, but lost two three set decisions in dropping a 4-2 decision to visiting Cornell Tuesday at Golden Gate Park.
Matthew Berry improved his singles record to 17-6 in defeating Nicholas Brunner 6-2, 6-3. Thong Tu also won 6-4, 6-4 at number two. But the match turned when USF lost three set pairings at numbers three (Falko Huettenberger), four (Asaf Cohen) and five (Rainer Nachbauer) after Josh Goldstein won for Cornell at the six slot.
Due to weather and the rain delay, the doubles were not played.
USF next plays Thursday at the Boise State tournament.
