Men's Tennis Defeats Air Force

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's men's tennis competed in their seventeenth match of the year against Air Force. The Gaels defeated the Academy by a score of 6-1. The Gaels improved to 8-9 on the season.

The competition got underway with doubles. Andre Sion teamed up with Adam Fauvre and the two speeded through their match, winning 8-0. Alp Ozpinar and Andrea Zannoni won their match 8-6. Achim Christner and Yury Platonov won their match 7-6 (7-4).

With the Gaels up 1-0 the singles matches began. Fauvre finished his match first winning 6-1, 6-3. Sion scored the third point for the Gaels. He fell behind in the first set 0-3 but came back to win 6-4. He took the second set 6-2.

Christner recorded the winning point and gave the Gaels the 4-0 lead. He won his match 6-3, 7-5. With the Gaels having won the competition Ozpinar recorded the fifth Gaels point. He won his match 6-0, 6-7 (8-6), 10-2. Zannoni recorded the sixth Gael point winning his match 6-3, 7-6 (8-6). Platonov dropped his match 7-5, 6-3. This gave the final score of 6-1 in favor of the Gaels.
