Men's Tennis Cruises Past Louisville, Wins 53rd Straight Home Match

MALIBU, Calif. -

Pepperdine extended its home win streak to 53 straight Friday afternoon with a convincing 6-1 victory over the Louisville Cardinal at the Ralph-Straus Tennis Center . The Waves have also won seven straight matches since the end of February.

 

Pepperdine made quick work of Louisville in doubles as Richard Johnson and Omar Altmann picked up an 8-4 victory on court No. 1. The duo of Bassam Beidas and James Lemke secured the point on court No. 3 with an 8-6 victory. The Waves went on to sweep doubles when Andre Begemann and Mahmoud Kamel downed David Simon and Chris Herrlinger 9-8 on court No. 2.

 

Richard Johnson won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0, at the No. 4 position to extend the Pepperdine lead to 2-0 and Kamel pushed the lead to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Hortaiu Oltean at the No. 6 position.

 

Pepperdine clinched the match at No. 1 as Begemann swept Slavko Redman, 6-2, 6-3. Lemke kept the shutout intact with 6-4, 6-0 win at the No. 3 position but Damar Johnson held off Beidas at the No. 2 position for the Cardinals' lone point of the match.

 

Altmann defeated Simon, 7-5, 6-3 at No. 5 to complete the match.

 

Pepperdine will travel to Waco, Texas for its next match against the Baylor Bears on Sun., April 1.
