SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team keeps their home winning streak alive on Saturday evening when they defeated Northern Arizona 4-3. The Bulldogs are now 2-0 at home for the season.
Gonzaga won two out of the three doubles matches to win the point. Ried Arthur and Charles Adams playing in the No. 2 position defeated Brian Grooms and Jeff Morys. In the No. 3 doubles spot defeating Trent Hayward and Kyle Thieme 8-5, was Robert Penney and Copper Fratt.
"In singles action Ried Arthur and Marco Pineda clinched the win for the Bulldogs," said Peter McDonald, men's head tennis coach. Arthur played in the No. 1 position defeating Gareth Ducray 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. Pineda defeated Brian Grooms 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 4 singles position. Robert Penney also came through for the Bulldogs in the No. 6 spot winning against Kyle Thieme 6-3, 6-2.
The Bulldogs are back at home on Saturday where they will face Weber State on the Martin Tennis Courts.
