Men's Tennis Continues to Roll

MALIBU, Calif. -

The Pepperdine Waves handed the San Diego Toreros their third straight road loss Saturday afternoon in a 6-1 rout at the Ralph-Straus Tennis Center .


Pepperdine make quick work of clinching the double's point, picking up 8-1 and 8-3 victories on courts three and two, respectively. Omar Altmann and Richard Johnson made it a clean sweep for the Waves on court No. 1 with an 8-5 win.


Altmann stretched the Pepperdine lead to 2-0 on court No. 5, winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, over Ryo Sekiguchi. Andre Begemann pulled the Waves within one point of clinching the match by taking down Thomas Liversage, 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 1 position and Bassam Beidas clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Chris Coetzee at the No. 2 position.


Pepperdine went on to claim victories at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, dropping just one match to San Diego at the No. 6 position.


The victory improves Pepperdine's record to 16-7 on the season and is the 55th straight victory at home for the Waves.


Pepperdine will take to the road for its next match, returning to the site of its 2006 national championship, to face the Stanford Cardinal on Wed., April 11 at 1:30 p.m. PDT.
