USF came into Sunday's match against the St. Mary's Gaels looking to even the score after the Moraga team upset them last week and they earned it with a rewardinmg 4-2 victory Sunday at Golden Gate Park.
Due to threatening weather, the teams played singles first. Greg Hom won the first match for the Dons utilizing effective tactics and consistency off the ground. Tommy Tu took the ball earlier and dictated to extend his winning streak to four matches in a row. Matt Berry, at position #1, got revenge over Marchel playing attacking tennis and overcoming taunting by the other team to win 6-4, 7-5.
But USF's "Man of the Match" was freshman Korbi Kramer who played through pain on the way to clinching the victory for the Dons. Kramer from Friedberg, Germany, was down 4-1 before rallying to win 6-4 in the third set. The atmosphere in Golden Gate Park was electric when he clinched the match.
The Dons hope to build off this victory in their final two matches on Thursday against Cal Poly at the Olympic Club and away against Pacific. The match Thursday is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
