Men's Tennis Wins Final Match before WCC Championships

Los Angeles, CA - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team competed in its final regular season competition. The Gaels won their second straight match at the LMU Invite today as they defeated New Mexico State 4-3. The Gaels are now set to compete in the West Coast Conference Championships next weekend from San Diego, CA.

The Gaels dropped the doubles point today. Seniors Andre Sion and Adam Fauvre won their match 8-6. The Gaels were defeated in the other two doubles mates. Joel Kusnierz and Yury Platonov dropped their match 8-5. Alp Ozpinar and Achim Christner dropped their match 8-1.

The Gaels would go on to take the match as they would score four points in the singles matches. Sion won his match 6-4, 6-1. Sion finishes the season having won five straight singles matches. Christner dropped the first set 2-6 but came back to win the next two sets 6-4, 6-4.

Kusnierz and Fauvre both dropped tough matches. Andrea Zannoni won his match 6-4, 6-3. Zannoni has won his last four singles matches. Platonov won his match in three sets to give the Gaels the `W'.

The Gaels are set to compete in the WCC Championships next weekend. The WCC Championships will be held in San Diego, CA
