Santa Clara, CA - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team pulled out a tough 4-2 victory over Santa Clara on Monday afternoon at Santa Clara. With the win the Gaels improve to 9-8 overall and 3-3 in West Coast Conference play.

The Gaels dropped the doubles point, but won four singles matches to avenge a loss earlier this season to Santa Clara.

In singles action, the Gaels were led by Martin Marechal, Achim Christner and Alp Ozpinar, who all won in straight sets. Sophomore Yury Platonov battled back to win in three sets for the Gaels' fourth point. Julien Tizot went to the third set in his match, but time did not allow the match to finish and the Gaels had the victory in hand.
