SAN DIEGO, Calif. - - Marco Antonio Pineda and Charles Adams each posted singles victories Sunday as the Gonzaga University men's tennis team fell to seventh-seeded Loyola Marymount 4-2 on the final day of the West Coast Conference Championship held in San Diego, Calif.
With the loss, the Bulldogs finish eighth in the league and round out the season with an 11-16 record. The Lions improve to 9-15 with the victory.
Pineda earned his 23rd singles victory of the season as the senior rounded out his career with a three-set victory over Matt Phillips (5-7, 6-4, 6-3) at the No. 4 singles spot. Adams earned the lone other Bulldog point of the day with a straight set victory over Nick Von Der Ahe (6-2, 6-1) at the No. 6 spot.
The Lions earned the doubles point, taking victories at both the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.
