Toreros Place 2nd at WCC Championships

(San Diego, CA) - The USD men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 1 seed Pepperdine in today's WCC Championship match played at the USD West Tennis Courts. The match was much closer than the final score. After losing the doubles point, and falling behind 2-0 after losing at No. 3 singles, USD had a chance to get back in the match at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. USD had two match points in the second set at No. 1, and had one match point in the third set at No. 2. Junior Thomas Liversage gave Pepperdine's Andre Begemann, the 16th ranked player in the nation, all he could handle. Liversage had two match points in the 2nd set, but eventually lost in the tie-breaker and the match was not completed. Chris Coetzee had one match point in the 3rd set against Bassam Beidas, but lost the closely contested match in three sets. The USD Toreros finish their season with an overall record of 11-12.
