SAN DIEGO - Loyola Marymount men's tennis closed out the West Coast Conference Championship and the 2007 season with a 4-2 win over Gonzaga Sunday morning. The seventh-seeded Lions finish true to their seed after topping the eight-seeded Bulldogs at the University of San Diego.
The Lions faced Gonzaga this morning after falling to No.2 Santa Clara and No. 6 San Francisco Saturday in first and second round action.
LMU took a 1-0 lead Sunday morning after winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Senior Nico Terrien put the Lions up 2-0 by posting a straight-sets victory at No. 1 singles. Terrien finished his LMU career with 76 singles victories, which ranks second all-time in program history.
Sam Tadevosian made it 3-0 LMU with a sin at No. 2.
But the Zags hung on, posting wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles to pull within one at 3-2.
Jacek Twarowski sealed the 4-2 LMU victory with a three-set win at No. 3.
