Men's Tennis Finishes Conference in Fifth Place

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team finished West Coast Conference play with a fifth place finish after beating Loyola Marymount 4-3 in the consolation championship Sunday afternoon on the final day of the WCC tennis championships held at the Korth Tennis Complex.

The No. 5 seeded Gaels won two straight matches to earn the fifth place finish. No. 6 seed Loyola Marymount finished the season in sixth place.

Saint Mary's won the doubles point after wins by the team of Achim Christner and Yury Platonov and Martin Marechal and Alp Ozpinar.

In singles action, Alp Ozpinar won in straight sets and Achim Christner won in three sets. After the Lions tied the match at 3-3, all the attention turned to court three where Adam Fauvre wrapped up a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 victory.
