Toreros Competing at Bulldog Classic

(Fresno, CA) - The USD Torero men's tennis team is competing at the Bulldog Classic at Fresno State University. In Flight 1 singles, Chris Coetzee and Dean Jackson both advanced. Coetzee beat Tejesvi Veerepalli of Fresno State (4-6, 6-4, 6-2) and Jackson bested Benjamin David of Nevada (6-2, 7-6). Charl Wolmarans dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Patrick Fischer of Washington. In Flight 2 Singles, Jose Quiroga fell to Brad Bator of Washington, 6-2, 6-2. In Flight 3 Singles, Nils Schive was knocked off by Sevn-David Rueff of Sacramento State, 6-1, 6-4.

In doubles play, USD had two teams fall in the Flight 1 bracket. Tamer Antabi and Nils Schive defeated the Washington duo of Rosinkski/Sekiguchi, 8-4. USD dropped both of its Flight 2 matches; Coetzee/Munoz lost 9-7 to Fresno Pacific's Foelz/Silva, and Jackson/Wolmarans lost 8-6 to UOP's Gonzales/Gramma. Play continues tomorrow.
