Santa Barbara, Calif. - Loyola Marymount's doubles team of senior Reyniere Roxas and freshman Nick Von Der Ahe went undefeated at the UC Santa Barbara Invititional, defeating teams from host UCSB, Cal Poly and UC Riverside. The day three action at the UCSB Invitational concluded the Lions' fall season.
"Reyniere and Nick have proven to be our most consistent doubles team this fall," LMU Head Coach Nik DeVore said. "They communicate well, and have a lot of positive energy when they play, which is s big reason why they are successful."
In singles play, freshman Dmitry Popov went a perfect 2-0 for the Lions, defeating players from UC Riverside and Cal Poly.
"Dmitry is starting to find his form, which is great to see," DeVore said. "Sometimes it takes the internationalplayers a bit longer to adjust to life in the United States. Dmitry played hismost consistent tennis of the fall semester this weekend in Santa Barbara."
The UC Santa Barbara Invitational concluded the fall season for the Lions.
"We had a lot of up and down results this fall, which is to be expected with such a young team," DeVore said. "Wewill have to play a lot better in the spring if we are going to havesuccess. Our spring schedule has us playing 11 teams that appeared in the national rankings last season."
The Lions spring schedule will beginJanuary 15th when they will host Air Force at the LMU Tennis Center.
