Waves vs. Lions in Home Opener on Wednesday
After rescheduling Sunday's home opener against UC Santa Barbara due to rain, the No. 10 Pepperdine men's tennis team is set to host cross-town rival and West Coast Conference foe Loyola Marymount for its first home match of the season. First serve is set for 1 p.m. The Waves enter tomorrow's match with a 1-1 record after earning a split on the road to open the 2007 season.
Waves Defend Home Turf
After going 20-0 in Malibu last season, the Waves extended their home win streak to 41 matches, which dates back to March 24, 2004. Pepperdine will play 14 matches in the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center, hosting three teams ranked in the Top 15, including Ohio State (No. 3), Texas (No. 12) and Florida State (No. 15).
Three Newcomers in Wave Line-up
All three of Pepperdine's freshmen - Bassam Beidas, Mahmoud Kamel and James Lemke - have started in the Waves' line-up in both singles and doubles. Beidas and Lemke have paired up, playing at No. 3 doubles in the Waves' last two matches, while Kamel teamed up with junior Andre Begemann at No. 2 doubles.
