SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- The Pepperdine men's tennis team was chosen to finish first in the 2013 West Coast Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the head coaches within the WCC. Pepperdine also had two players named to the preseason all-conference team alongside BYU, San Diego, San Francisco, and Santa Clara.

Reigning 2012 WCC Champion Pepperdine received the maximum 64 total points after earning first place votes from all the men's head coaches around the conference. 2011 WCC Champion San Diego was chosen to finish second this season with 57 points and the remaining first place vote. Santa Clara, led by Preseason All-Conference selection junior John Lamble, was chosen to finish third in the WCC with 47 points.

Second year WCC member BYU was picked to finish fourth in the conference poll with 45 points. While San Francisco landed in fifth place with 30 points, and Saint Mary's narrowly behind in sixth with 29 points. Of the top six teams in the preseason poll, four are currently ranked in the top-50 in the ITA rankings.

Loyola Marymount was picked seventh in this season's preseason list with 23 points, while Portland (19 points) and Gonzaga (10 points) rounded out the coaches' poll.

The men's preseason all-conference team includes familiar names from last season's all-conference list in Pepperdine seniors Sebastian Fanselow (2012 WCC Player of the Year) and Finn Tearney (First Team), BYU junior Patrick Kawka (Honorable Mention), Santa Clara junior John Lamble (Second Team), San Diego junior Clarke Spinosa (Second Team), and San Francisco senior Thai Tu (Second Team). This past fall, Fanselow was the runner-up at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championship, where he was also recognized as the USTA/ITA Sportsmanship award winner. Fanselow earned WCC Player of the Month honors in November 2012 and concluded his fall campaign with a 6-2 record. Spinosa earned WCC Doubles Honors in November 2012 after taking home the doubles title with partner Thibaut Visy at the Southern California Intercollegiate Championships. Lamble finished the fall with a 5-5 singles mark and was ranked No. 65 in the January ITA ranking.
