SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team will host the University of Montana and UC-Davis this weekend in a pair of matches that will be held in Cheney, Wash. at Eastern Washington University. The Bulldogs will play Montana on Saturday and will face off with UC-Davis on Sunday. Both matches are scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
Gonzaga is looking to rebound from a slow start, dropping all three of its opening matches last weekend. The Zags' dropped their first three matches of the season to the University of Oregon (7-0), WCC opponent University of Portland (6-1) and University of Nevada (6-1), during the opening weekend of the spring season.
This will be the opening weekend of play for Montana. The Grizzlies will face UC-Davis Friday at 4 p.m. before matching up against the Zags on Saturday.
The Aggies are looking to improve on their 0-2 record this weekend. Last weekend UC-Davis was schedule to play two matches but only competed in one when its match against Saint Mary's College was cancelled due to wet courts The Aggies opened the spring season falling 4-0 to Santa Clara University. On Jan. 27, the Aggies fell 6-0 to then-No. 19 University of California, but UC-Davis put up a fight against the Bears, taking three matches to three sets.
Following this weekend, the Bulldogs will take a weekend off before traveling to the Bay Area for three WCC matches against Santa Clara University, Saint Mary's College and the University of San Francisco on Feb. 16 - 18.
