MALIBU, Calif. - Waves Continue Action at HomeThe No. 9 Pepperdine men's tennis team hosts Saint Mary's and Santa Clara in a West Coast Conference (WCC) doubleheader on Saturday at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. First serve is set for 9:30 a.m. against Saint Mary's followed by a 2 p.m. match against Santa Clara. The Waves are 2-1 on the season after opening their home schedule with a 7-0 shutout over WCC foe Loyola Marymount on Wednesday.
A Century Mark for Steinberg...With two wins on Saturday, head coach Adam Steinberg could pick up his 99th and 100th Pepperdine victories. Steinberg held a 96-25 school record as he began his fifth season with the program.
About the GaelsSaint Mary's earned its first-ever national ranking this week, checking in at No. 58. The Gaels are 2-1 on the season after defeating Northern Arizona and upsetting then-No. 48 Arizona, but recently fell to Cal, 5-1. Pepperdine will look to go 12-0 against Saint Mary's.
About the BroncosThe Broncos (2-2) opened its season with two wins over UC Santa Cruz and UC Davis, but fell to Boise State and Cal. Pepperdine has dominated its matches over Santa Clara and will look to go 10-0 against the Broncos on Saturday.
Last Time...Pepperdine opened its home schedule on Wednesday with a 7-0 shutout over WCC rival Loyola Marymount. With the win, the Waves improved to 2-1 on the season.
